Description
The Mirage was designed with the orchid in mind. The pot is round and narrows slightly towards the rim. Curved lines cross each other across the outside, like a net. In white that looks sleek and graphic; in the transparent version, light falls through the pot.
Why orchids love light
Most orchids sold as houseplants are moth orchids (Phalaenopsis). In nature they grow on trees, with aerial roots that cling to the bark. Those roots contain chlorophyll and need light and air. That is why orchids usually come in a clear nursery pot.
How to use the Mirage
Leave the orchid in its clear nursery pot and place that inside the Mirage. Watering is easiest by lifting the nursery pot out, dipping it briefly and letting it drain well before it goes back in. A light spot without strong midday sun suits most moth orchids best.
