How to recognise a 3D-printed vase

A printed vase is built up layer by layer. Those layers stay visible and tangible, and that is exactly what gives the piece its character: in raking light you see the lines run, up close you see the texture, from a distance only the shape. No two pieces are identical down to the layer.

Printing also allows shapes you will not easily find in glass or ceramics: twisted ribs, open structures and wavy walls that simply would not release from a mould. Every vase is checked and finished by hand here in The Hague.

Flowers in it, and keeping the vase clean

Dried flowers, pampas grass and silk flowers go straight in. For flowers on water, use a glass tube or an inner vase that slides in from the top, and fill only that. The layers of a print never close completely, so loose water does not belong in it. That keeps the vase in good shape for years while you can still change the water as usual.

Cleaning is a matter of a damp cloth and lukewarm water. Keep the dishwasher and hot water away from it: plastic can deform slightly in heat. A spot in full afternoon sun is not the best choice for the same reason.

Colour, size and when it arrives

There are over fifty vases in the shop, from 5.50 euro for a small model. On many models you choose the colour and the size yourself on the product page, and the price follows the size. If a shape is right but the size is just off, ask us: because every vase is printed to order, a different size is often simply possible.
