Which modern plant pot suits your plant?
Choosing a modern plant pot is often harder than it looks: will it fit around the nursery pot, and which colour will you still like in a year? On this page we go through the choices that make the difference. If you would rather browse straight away, head to the plant pots in the shop.
Measure your nursery pot first, not your plant
Our plant pots are decorative outer pots: the nursery pot your plant was grown in slides inside and stays there. Measure that nursery pot across the top rim and take a plant pot that is about a centimetre wider. It will then slide in and out smoothly when you water the plant.
Water the plant over the sink. Let it drain and put it back afterwards. Loose water does not belong in the pot, because the layers of a print let moisture through over time.
Look at the inside of the outer pot and at its height as well. If the outer pot is lower than the nursery pot, the rim of the nursery pot will stick out above it. With the Tervielle, the Phyllara and the Fluxo you choose the size yourself: their dimensions in centimetres are in the drop-down list.

Choose a colour your room already has
Terracotta, white and black are the colours most models come in, followed by olive green, brown, light grey and beige. Terracotta and brown work well next to wood and linen. White and light grey fade away against a light wall, which lets the plant itself set the tone. Black and olive green do the opposite and add contrast against fresh leaves.
If you are putting several pots together, it is better to pick one colour and different shapes than the other way round. That looks calmer.
Which pot suits which plant?
The compact Zyra Planter is made for herbs and small house plants. The Inova Planter carries a lush fern just as easily as a modest cactus, and the slender Velar Planter suits a full leafy plant as well as a modest succulent.
For orchids there are separate pots, recognisable by Orchid in the name. The Echo, Mirage and Quasar Orchid Planter come in white or transparent. The transparent version lets light through, and your orchid simply stays in its clear nursery pot. Some of these pots are open in shape, so the roots get air and light.
A bonsai calls for a pot that stays small: that is what the Zephyr Bonsai Planter is for, and a small house plant does well in it too. The rest of the collection is meant for ordinary house plants and succulents in their nursery pot, from a windowsill to a spot next to the sofa.
