Japandi vases

Japandi brings Japanese restraint and Scandinavian warmth together in one shape. These vases keep to understated silhouettes: their character lies in the shape, in ribs and in texture, not in decoration. Every vase is printed to order and finished by hand in The Hague.

What makes a vase Japandi?

Japandi is about simple, organic shapes, understated colours and space around the object. With these vases the character lies in ribs and texture rather than decoration: crisp ribs on the Shizu, refined ribs from a wide body to a slender neck on the Tayo, a fuzzy base with crisp ribs above on the Neki, and ribs at the top or the bottom on the Tama.

The Japandi series

The Shizu is a flowing shape with a crisp ribbed structure, lovely for a single dried branch. The Tayo runs with refined ribs from a wide body to a slender neck. The Neki vases are a set with a fuzzy base and a crisply ribbed top.

The Tama comes in olive green, sand, beige and terracotta, with the ribs at the top or the bottom, or as two vases together. The Lunara has a soft arch with an open cut-out; because of that cut-out it is for dry material only.

Large and small Japandi vases

With the Japandi Vase and the Hiku you choose between a large and a small vase. The Japandi Vase comes as a large vase in natural beige and as a small vase in green. The Hiku has a large vase with its ribs at the bottom and a small vase with the same structure. For both, you can order the large or the small vase on its own, or the two together as a set. If you would like to know the height before you order, just send us a message.

Japandi or Scandinavian?

Japandi mixes Japanese and Scandinavian. The Nordic Vase is purely Scandinavian: clean in shape and available in three versions, large ribbed, large fuzzy and small fuzzy.

Japandi vases as a set

Two vases from one series side by side look calmer than two different styles. As a set you can order the Japandi Vase (large and small vase together), the Hiku (both vases) and the Tama (both vases, per colour). The Neki is a set in itself.

Leave it empty or fill it?

A Japandi vase can simply stay empty. Filling it works too: a single dried branch in the Shizu, or dried flowers and grasses in the Japandi Vase. Loose water does not belong in it; if you want fresh flowers, place a glass tube in the vase and fill only that.
